Master scouting report

Major Everhart’s clearest appeal is speed that can give an offense and its return game a different problem to present. His college record includes actual return work and selected receiving opportunities, but it does not yet establish a full-time NFL receiving role. The sensible starting projection is a developmental receiver with a return background, where quick touches can make the athletic ability useful while route responsibility grows. The role becomes more valuable when his presence does not tell the defense exactly how the ball will reach him.

01The receiving record without embellishment

Everhart caught 20 passes for 197 yards in 2023, one for four yards in 2024 and 14 for 149 yards in 2025. That produces 35 career receptions for 350 yards through 2025, with no receiving touchdowns. TCU’s complete 2025 ledger includes four catches for 45 yards against West Virginia and four for 38 in the bowl game. The bowl performance was therefore not his first four-catch game since 2023. The actual record shows recurring opportunities, but still a modest sustained receiving footprint.

02A real speed background, properly dated

TCU lists high-school track marks of 10.38 seconds for 100 meters and 21.42 for 200 meters. Charles Power’s recruiting evaluation also described speed that transferred onto the football field across several offensive roles. Those are meaningful athletic credentials, but they are high-school marks and observations, not NFL Combine testing or a current professional projection. The football value is the threat of rapid acceleration into available space. A receiving role still requires the timing and route execution that make that space available.

03An established additional job

Everhart served as TCU’s primary kick returner in 2023 and averaged 22.3 yards per return. His season included an 86-yard return against Colorado, a 40-yarder against Iowa State and a 32-yarder against Oklahoma. That is actual college return experience rather than a role inferred from speed. It can matter for a developmental receiver seeking a game-day contribution. The current return assignment and execution would still need evaluation, because a past long return does not by itself establish complete readiness for an NFL specialist job.

04Using space before expanding the menu

The West Virginia gamebook credits Everhart with 40 yards after the catch on his four receptions for 45 yards. In that game, much of the value came after the completion rather than from deep receiving yardage. That is a concrete example of how a shorter passing role can use his running ability. It should remain a game-specific observation, not a claim that every season touch followed the same pattern. The offensive opportunity is to make those quick completions part of a broader threat instead of a predictable standalone package.

05Making the speed useful without the ball

A receiver’s speed also has to function before the pass arrives. For Everhart’s next role, the practical tasks are reaching the route on time, presenting a consistent target and remaining useful when the defense anticipates an early touch. The modest college receiving totals leave that broader assignment less established than the athletic background. A development plan should add responsibility in connected steps, so routes that begin similarly can produce different answers. That would make his speed harder to defend than a package built around one expected action.

06The next opportunity is specific

Russell Hodges’ TCU receiver preview records the departures of McAlister and Manjack while Dwyer returns, correcting the idea that all of the leading receivers had left. Everhart’s own career was interrupted by a season-ending injury in 2024 before 10 appearances and three starts in 2025. He enters a competition for a larger receiving role alongside returning experience, making dependable execution between designed touches especially valuable to his case.

The case for the player

Strengths

  • Documented high-school speed and actual college return production provide a defined athletic contribution.

  • The West Virginia game supplies a concrete example of useful production after shorter completions.

The questions that remain

Concerns

  • The sustained receiving workload remains modest, leaving a broader route assignment unestablished.

  • An interrupted career makes a dependable, expanded role more important than isolated explosive opportunities.

Building the fit

NFL role and scheme fit

Everhart fits a developmental receiving and return evaluation, with selected quick touches helping establish an offensive contribution. The receiving package should expand as he earns trust in routes that do not immediately put the ball in his hands. That progression would preserve his speed threat while giving a coordinator more options than simply announcing a designed touch whenever he enters the formation.

The Draftanomics view

Bottom line

Everhart has an identifiable route to roster value, but the return background and speed need a more dependable receiving role around them. The next step is turning limited opportunities into repeatable usefulness across more situations. That would make the athletic appeal easier for an NFL offense to employ.
