Master scouting report

Christian Alliegro can cover a great deal of ground and arrive with force. That makes him an attractive linebacker when the assignment gives his movement a clear destination, particularly as a blitzer. The less settled part is identifying that destination through traffic and deception. His NFL projection has starting potential, but the difference between an active defender and a dependable one lies in the timing of his decisions. He needs to make his range serve the correct fit, rather than let an early commitment turn an athletic advantage into an open lane.

01The production has more than one dimension

Alliegro transferred to Ohio State after three seasons at Wisconsin. His 2025 record included 10 appearances, eight starts, 53 tackles, eight tackles for loss and four sacks. He also recorded 66 tackles and three sacks in 2024. Ohio State's official biography notes his return to action after an arm injury during the 2025 season, and he contributed a tackle for loss in his Buckeyes debut against Ball State. The record gives the projection substance across multiple seasons without proving that every part of the linebacker job is equally developed.

02A defined target brings out the strengths

PFN is particularly positive about Alliegro's angles as a blitzer and his ability to participate in defensive movement. Harbaugh also sees closing speed that matters in both the rush and the run game. A defense can use those traits to make a protection account for pressure from a second level, rather than ask the front alone to create every difficult block. The value is clearest when Alliegro can attack an identified space. It gives the staff a productive assignment while the more complicated read-and-react work continues to develop.
