Robinson can change direction without losing the play. His hips and recovery movement give him ways to regain coverage after a receiver creates an initial advantage. The value of that athletic response depends on whether he then identifies the route and completes the tackle or ball contest.
01A full season after a reserve introduction
Georgia records 14 appearances and 12 starts for Robinson in 2025, with four interceptions, seven pass breakups and 20 tackles. That followed four reserve appearances and three tackles in 2024. The second season supplies a substantially larger role to examine, while the first offers little basis for pretending there are already several full years of starting evidence.
02Recovery is valuable, but the opening still counts
Tyler Forness credits fluid hip turns, lateral movement and the ability to travel vertically with a receiver. Robinson can turn and accelerate without an obvious break between those actions. Forness also describes a lean defender who can be displaced by contact, making movement especially valuable when it keeps him away from the opponent’s strongest physical position. Paul Emery identifies a different point in the exchange: an initial release can beat Robinson, including easy inside access against larger receivers. 06Outside movement, an alternative nickel assessment
Emery favors a future nickel fit. That differs from an automatic outside-starter conclusion and deserves to remain visible. His case includes mirroring from off coverage, guiding a receiver toward the boundary from press and moving comfortably through zone turns. The role decision should weigh those coverage advantages against the contact difficulty, rather than assume that changing the alignment removes it. Locked On’s bigger-receiver concern reinforces the need to choose matchups carefully. Inside work can create traffic and different physical demands; moving Robinson there would change the problem he must solve, not guarantee that it disappears.
