Mensah is an accurate, anticipatory pocket passer who has produced at Tulane and Duke and now takes a 56-touchdown, 12-interception résumé to Miami. His starter upside depends on stronger pocket discipline, tighter ball security and showing that his arm can threaten NFL windows when the platform breaks down.

01Career And Transfer Context

Mensah broke out at Tulane in 2024 with 2,723 passing yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions, then transferred to Duke and led the Blue Devils to an ACC championship. He threw for 3,973 yards and 34 touchdowns against six interceptions in 14 starts in 2025 before moving to Miami. Three programs in three seasons create continuity questions, but the production has traveled with him.

02Accuracy And Touch

Touch is the defining arm trait. Mensah can layer the ball over linebackers, lead crossers away from contact and drop outside throws between the corner and safety. His passes are catchable throughout the short and intermediate field, giving receivers room to finish rather than merely complete the play.

03Processing

He reads coverage before the snap, uses his eyes to move safeties and can reach a late receiver without panic. The timing is best when the protection and route spacing stay intact. Post-snap disguise can still hold him on the first read long enough for the pocket to tighten.

04Arm Talent

Mensah has enough velocity for NFL intermediate throws and can release from an imperfect base. He is not a pure power passer who can drive every deep sideline ball through pressure. He can deliver through contact and has enough mobility to escape a free rusher, but pressure changes his mechanics and decision speed. When the first read is covered, he can hold the ball or flee a pocket that still has space. Faster decisions against interior pressure are essential for an NFL starting role.

08Mobility

Mensah is a functional mover rather than a designed-run quarterback. He can extend the throwing play, roll to either side and steal a first down when the defense turns its back. Negative rushing totals reflect sacks more than a complete lack of athletic ability, but his legs will not rescue an offense built on late decisions.

10Leadership And Transition

Mensah led consecutive winning seasons at Tulane and Duke, earned ACC Championship Game MVP honors and stepped into another high-expectation program at Miami. Coaches have trusted him with a broad passing workload, including 500 attempts in 2025.
