Master scouting report
Sellers has a strong arm, good touch downfield and the strength to run through contact. He can shake off a pass rusher and still find a receiver. But he misses too many short throws and holds the ball waiting for receivers to come open. Inconsistent footwork and late decisions keep him from getting more out of his ability.
01Passing
Sellers can put air under a deep ball and give his receiver room to track it. He does not have to fire every pass on a line. He is also comfortable throwing while moving in either direction. Rollouts can make use of that ability while keeping the threat of a run. Short accuracy is much less dependable. His feet are inconsistent, and the ball placement suffers. He can throw accurately on the run yet miss an easier completion from the pocket. He needs to get his feet under him before he throws.
02Reading coverage
There are encouraging signs in how Sellers reads a defense. He has recognized safeties rotating after the snap and used his eyes to move them away from his intended target. South Carolina's defined reads have given him chances to identify the coverage and work through a progression. He has shown he can do that work, although the decision sometimes comes late. He also stays on his first target too long and can miss a defender in the throwing lane. When he waits to see a receiver open, he gives the defense time to close the gap. He needs to anticipate the break and deliver the pass before the receiver has finished getting into position. That would spare him some of the late, difficult throws he currently attempts.
03Handling pressure
Sellers is difficult to bring down. He can pull free of contact, move within the pocket and keep looking for a receiver instead of immediately turning into a runner. That gives a passing play time to recover when the protection fails. He can also make pressure worse by retreating or holding the ball too long. South Carolina's poor protection in 2025 made his job harder, but he still has to recognize when a play is over and get rid of the ball. His strength will get him out of some sacks; it should not be the reason he takes others.
04Running ability
Sellers should be part of the designed running game. He has the speed to gain ground in the open field and enough power to take on contact in short yardage. An offense can call his number when it needs a tough yard, rather than relying on him to produce all his rushing yards on scrambles.
05College context
Sellers won SEC Freshman of the Year in 2024, throwing for 2,534 yards and 18 touchdowns and rushing for 674 yards and seven scores. His completion rate fell from 65.6% to 60.8% in 2025, when he threw for 2,437 yards, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He finished that season with 901 passing yards and six touchdowns over the final three games.
Strengths
Sellers has a strong arm, good touch downfield and the strength to run through contact.
He can shake off a pass rusher and still find a receiver.
Concerns
His feet are inconsistent, and the ball placement suffers.
But he misses too many short throws and holds the ball waiting for receivers to come open.
NFL role and scheme fit
We would build around quarterback runs, movement passes and defined early reads, then ask him to handle more as his timing improves. He needs coaching that connects his footwork to the progression, so he is ready to throw when he finds the receiver.
Bottom line
Sellers is a developmental quarterback with the arm and mobility to justify patience. His accuracy and timing need work before a team asks him to start.
