Master scouting report

Biles is a fast, disruptive linebacker who slips through traffic, closes from distance and gives Texas several ways to pressure or cover. His NFL role depends on defeating blocks and finishing through size more consistently without losing the speed that makes him different.

01Career And Production

Biles developed from a high-school offensive player and safety into a two-time All-ACC linebacker at Pittsburgh before transferring to Texas. He played 31 games with 19 starts for the Panthers and earned second-team All-ACC honors in 2025 after a third-team selection in 2024. The move to Texas gives him a new scheme and a higher weekly level of offensive line competition.

02Processing And Trigger

He reads flow quickly and attacks before a climbing blocker can establish position. His short-area burst turns a correct key into backfield disruption, especially when he is allowed to play through a crease.

03Range And Pursuit

Biles can run down plays outside the tackle box and close on a back who appears to have the edge. He changes direction without gathering and remains active from the backside.

04Run Defense

His quickness through congestion creates tackles for loss and forces runners to redirect before the blocking surface is stable. He is less reliable when a guard reaches him square and turns the play into a strength contest.

05Block Deconstruction

Biles uses sudden hands and lateral quickness to avoid clean contact, and he can cross a blocker's face before the second level forms. He does not consistently anchor or separate once a larger lineman locks onto his chest. Texas can help by keeping him off the line and using movement up front, but NFL offenses will still force him to take on blocks.

06Tackling And Finish

He arrives with speed and attacks the football, creating turnover opportunities when he is the second defender to the play. Added functional strength and a calmer approach would improve his finishing rate.

07Coverage

Biles has the movement to carry backs, match quick routes from the slot and close underneath zone windows. His background in the secondary shows in the way he tracks the quarterback and breaks on the ball. Bigger tight ends can use their frame against him at the catch point, making matchup selection important.

08Pass Rush

Timing and acceleration make him dangerous through an interior gap or around a slow-developing protection. He is a pressure piece rather than a true edge player because straight power is unlikely to beat NFL tackles.

09Versatility And Special Teams

Texas can use Biles at WILL, over the slot, as a spy and in pressure packages without changing personnel. His speed and tackling profile also translate to every major special-teams unit. That versatility raises his floor even if he never becomes a linebacker who takes on guards all afternoon.

10Development And Transition

Biles improved across three Pittsburgh seasons and now enters a Texas defense with new terminology and fit responsibilities. His academic recognition and multi-year starting role show that Pittsburgh trusted him with substantial responsibility. At Texas, he has to maintain the disruption against stronger offensive lines and more direct attention.

Building the fit

NFL role and scheme fit

Biles belongs at WILL in a fast, multiple defense that keeps him clean and lets him attack. He can match backs, rotate over the slot, spy mobile quarterbacks and pressure from depth, giving a coordinator several third-down options. A sturdy defensive front will reduce the number of square collisions with guards, while split-safety structures can preserve his pursuit freedom. Even in a smaller role, his speed should have value in subpackages and on special teams.

Biles has the range, instincts and pressure versatility to become a starting NFL linebacker. His best plays change the shape of a drive because he reaches gaps and ballcarriers before the offense expects him. The concern is whether he can stay clean and finish when NFL size reaches him directly. If the Texas season brings stronger block separation and secure tackling without slowing his trigger, his grade can rise quickly.
