Heldt is a long, disciplined edge defender whose pursuit effort, hand activity and run awareness support an NFL rotation role. He has starting potential, but ordinary burst, limited cornering and incomplete rush transitions prevent a stronger pass-rush projection.

01Career And Production

Heldt developed at Purdue, transferred to Clemson and immediately led the Tigers with 15.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks in 2025. That followed a 56-tackle, five-sack season at Purdue, giving him productive years in two Power Four conferences. He enters 2026 with a large snap history and fewer projection gaps than most edge defenders in the class.

02Length And Frame

His height and reach allow him to initiate contact before the tackle reaches his chest. Heldt can lock out, read the backfield and use his wingspan to disrupt a passing lane when the rush stalls. The frame is long and relatively lean, leaving room for more functional strength but also creating leverage challenges against shorter blockers.

03First Step And Rush Tempo

Heldt gets off the ball on time and builds momentum into the block, but he does not consistently force an emergency set with pure burst. He wins more often through angle, effort and hand placement than by crossing the tackle's face immediately.
