Master scouting report

Green can turn an imperfect throwing window into a reachable ball. His coordination and tracking let him adjust a large target without losing control of the catch. The role decision is how to use that receiving advantage while being selective about the blocking demands attached to it.

01Receiving responsibility grew quickly

LSU records 11 appearances and six starts in 2025, with 33 receptions, 433 yards and seven touchdowns. Green caught eight passes for 119 yards against South Carolina and finished the season with four catches, 80 yards and two scores against Houston in the Texas Bowl. Those games demonstrate substantial involvement as well as scoring opportunities. The school’s August 17 watch-list account credits 11 receiving touchdowns across his first two college seasons. His scoring contribution arrived before he had accumulated several years as a full-time starter. The useful context is an already significant receiving role with room for the rest of the tight-end assignment to develop.

02Position comes before the high point

Mike Renner highlights body control, tracking and the ability to bend through the top of a route despite Green’s long frame. The value is coordination: he can cover ground, locate the throw and make the necessary adjustment without treating those movements as unrelated steps. Locked On emphasizes how Green places his body between the ball and the defender before attacking the catch. That preparation can make a high throw more than a height contest. It gives the quarterback a target area that the defender must reach through or around, particularly when space near the goal line is compressed.

03Let the stride and tempo work together

Best Available distinguishes ground-covering strides from instant acceleration. Green can travel a considerable distance once moving, but that does not mean every route begins with the same quick separation. The distinction matters when choosing whether to ask him to win immediately or give the route time to develop. Locked On credits deliberate tempo into an inside break and describes useful work at several route levels. A detached alignment can give that pacing room to operate. The assignment should exploit his movement into the break rather than assume that size alone will keep the passing game on schedule.

04Secure the catch, then change the contact

Best Available identifies Green bringing the ball into his chest promptly, sidestepping a defender and turning upfield with lower pads. Those are useful transitions for a large receiver: the first movement protects the catch, and the next changes the tackler’s approach. Its evaluation also finds uneven contact balance, so an impressive finish through one tackle is not a guarantee on the next.

05Space and the line ask different questions

Renner is strongly negative about Green’s run blocking and the strength available through his frame. That concern is substantial when an alignment asks him to hold the point of attack. Receiving ability does not automatically solve the physical responsibility next to the tackle. Locked On is more positive about perimeter blocks against defensive backs, while identifying inline strength problems and missed initial contact. Best Available also separates willingness from technique: receiving a block passively or stopping the feet can undo an otherwise committed effort. The evidence supports distinguishing the assignment from the general label of blocker.

The case for the player

Strengths

  • Tracking and coordination enlarge the useful target area.

  • LSU’s two-season record already includes a substantial scoring contribution.

The questions that remain

Concerns

  • Point-of-attack strength remains a limiting part of the assignment.

  • Stopped feet can prevent his effort from producing a sustained block.

Building the fit

NFL role and scheme fit

Use Green as a receiving tight end with space to work, then match each blocking assignment to the demands it actually creates. His existing receiving role gives an offense something concrete to build around.

The Draftanomics view

Bottom line

Green’s appeal is already visible in the passing offense. The next stage is making his broader contribution dependable enough that defenses cannot infer the call simply from how that receiving role is deployed.
