Master scouting report

Green projects as a receiving tight end who can work detached from the formation and create a large target through body control and tracking. Long strides and deliberate route tempo let him cover ground, while his ability to position his frame protects the catch point. Inline strength and inconsistent blocking technique limit a traditional every-down Y role. His receiving value is ready to lead the deployment plan; the blocking assignments need to remain selective.

01Experience and production

LSU records 11 appearances and six starts in 2025, with 33 receptions, 433 yards and seven touchdowns. Green caught eight passes for 119 yards against South Carolina and finished the season with four catches, 80 yards and two scores against Houston in the Texas Bowl. Those games demonstrate substantial involvement as well as scoring opportunities. Green scored 11 receiving touchdowns across his first two college seasons. His scoring contribution arrived before he had accumulated several years as a full-time starter. The useful context is an already significant receiving role with room for the rest of the tight-end assignment to develop.

02Body control and catch-point positioning

Green coordinates his long frame well through the route and catch. He can bend at the top of the route, track the throw and adjust without losing body control. He also places his body between the defender and the ball before attacking it, giving the quarterback a protected target area rather than depending only on height. That positioning is particularly useful when the field compresses near the goal line.

03Route tempo and separation

Green covers ground more effectively with his long stride than he separates with the first few steps. His routes benefit from time to develop and from space at the release. He can vary the tempo into an inside break and contribute at several levels. Detached alignments make sense because they allow that pacing and stride length to work without immediately requiring him to defeat a stronger defender’s contact at the line.

04After the catch

Green secures the ball into his chest, can sidestep the first defender and turns upfield with lower pads. The transition gives him a chance to alter the initial tackle angle rather than present a stationary target. Contact balance is uneven, so his size should not be treated as a guarantee of yards through a square tackle.

05Blocking strength and sustain

Green is more effective blocking defensive backs on the perimeter than stronger defenders inline. He does not yet have dependable point-of-attack strength through his frame. Missed initial contact, passive engagement and stopped feet further reduce sustain, even on willing reps. A receiving role can make productive use of the current player, but the offense should not assume that attaching him next to a tackle creates a reliable run surface.

NFL role and scheme fit

Deploy Green as a flex receiving tight end, using detached and slot alignments to give his stride and route tempo space. He can provide a large target through the middle and near the goal line, with perimeter blocking assignments better suited to his current strength than repeated inline work against defensive ends. A broader Y role requires firmer initial contact, active feet and more dependable point-of-attack resistance.
