QB Notre Dame

CJ Carr

Notre Dame 35, Navy 13 · 19-of-29, 210 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT; 0 sacks

The question we took inCan he get past the second read without double-clutching?

Carr threw two touchdowns and converted a late fourth down with a pass caught behind the line.

CJ Carr threw for 210 yards and two touchdowns in Notre Dame’s 35–13 win, finishing 19 of 29 with no interceptions. His scores went 11 yards to Micah Gilbert and 31 to Jerome Bettis Jr. Between them, Carr found Bettis on three consecutive throws during the opening drive of the second half, gaining seven, nine and 14 yards before Jonaz Walton finished the possession on the ground.

A later throw to Walton gives the progression review a different distance to examine. On fourth-and-five at Navy’s 40 in the fourth quarter, Carr completed a pass to the running back two yards behind the line. Walton turned it into a 14-yard gain. Carr had kept the possession alive with a short delivery that left the receiver room to run.

Our question concerned the pause at Carr’s second read. His compact release works best when his feet keep pace with his eyes; an extra hitch can let a window close. Compare the Bettis sequence with the fourth-down throw to Walton, starting before Carr commits to either receiver. Establish when each target becomes available, where Carr looks first and whether the next foot reset moves the throw forward or delays it.

RB Georgia

Nate Frazier

Georgia 27, Florida 8 · 12 carries, 67 yards, 1 TD; 1 catch, 10 yards

The question we took inCan he wait for the puller before accelerating through the crease?

Frazier opened Georgia’s scoring and supplied two late gains as the Bulldogs extended their lead.

Nate Frazier ran for 67 yards on 12 carries and scored Georgia’s first touchdown from one yard out. His five-yard run on the previous snap had put the ball there. He also converted fourth-and-one on the opening possession and caught one pass for 10 yards. Georgia kept returning to him as it built and protected the lead.

After Florida cut the deficit to 24–8, Frazier ran right for nine yards and, later in the same drive, 13. Those carries belong beside his early runs through the middle when examining his pace behind the blocking. His acceleration can turn a crease into a first down, but committing before a puller establishes leverage can send him into contact early. Identify which snaps use a puller, then compare Frazier’s plant with the blocker’s first contact. Follow whether he stays behind the block long enough to choose the opening.

EDGE Oregon

Matayo Uiagalelei

Oregon 34, Northwestern 26 · 5 tackles, 0.5 sack, 2 QB hurries

The question we took inCan he win inside when the tackle stops his cross-chop?

Uiagalelei reached Chiles on a shared sack and added pressure on two incomplete passes.

Matayo Uiagalelei finished Oregon’s 34–26 comeback with five tackles, half a sack and two quarterback hurries. With 9:36 left in the fourth quarter, he and Bear Alexander dropped Aidan Chiles for a two-yard loss. Oregon had taken an eight-point lead on its previous offensive snap; Northwestern still had time to answer.

The Wildcats moved past midfield despite that sack. On third-and-10 at Oregon’s 24, Uiagalelei hurried Chiles on an incomplete pass that Na’eem Offord broke up. The next snap ended with a missed 42-yard field goal. His earlier hurry had also come on an incompletion, in the third quarter, before Northwestern punted. The pressure review now has three named passing snaps to compare.

Start each rush at the tackle’s punch. Uiagalelei’s cross-chop can clear that hand without widening his path, while the harder transition comes when the blocker recovers and he has to work inside. On the shared sack, separate his path from Alexander’s before following the finish. Compare it with both hurries, marking whether the first move creates access or a second hand exchange changes the angle. That distinction keeps the evaluation on the counter we asked about.

CB Georgia

Ellis Robinson IV

Georgia 27, Florida 8 · 2 tackles, 1 INT, 8 return yards

The question we took inCan he locate the ball before the receiver reaches for it?

Robinson turned Florida’s first possession into the opportunity for Georgia’s opening touchdown.

Ellis Robinson IV caught one interception and returned it eight yards to Florida’s 41 on the Gators’ first possession. Aaron Philo had escaped to his right under pressure, stumbled and tried an underhand throw. Robinson took possession, and Georgia eventually cashed it in on Frazier’s one-yard touchdown. Florida’s roughing-the-punter penalty had extended that scoring drive.

The turnover gave Robinson the ball in a broken play. The preview’s question concerned finding it while recovering beside a receiver, where his hip turn can get him back into range before his head locates the pass. Begin the interception review with Robinson’s original route responsibility, then follow when he turns toward Philo’s throw. Compare that sequence with passes that keep him running alongside a receiver. Mark the point when he regains position and the point when he turns to the ball; his recovery has to leave time for both.

OL Penn State

Anthony Donkoh

Penn State 31, Purdue 17 · Started on offensive line; holding penalty; team allowed 2 sacks

The question we took inCan he stay square when the rusher crosses his face?

Donkoh started in a 269-yard rushing performance, but his holding penalty took away a fourth-quarter gain.

Anthony Donkoh started as Penn State rushed for 269 yards in its 31–17 win over Purdue. Early in the fourth quarter, Cam Wallace ran 26 yards from Purdue’s 31 to the five, but a holding penalty against Donkoh erased the gain. Rocco Becht answered on the next snap with a 33-yard completion to Benjamin Brahmer, and Wallace eventually finished the drive with a two-yard touchdown.

The pass-protection review has two third-quarter sacks to pull as well. Clint Neal was credited with both, on third-and-six and third-and-seven. The first included an intentional-grounding penalty against Becht. Establish Donkoh’s assignment on each before tracing the rusher, then compare those pass sets with his block on the nullified run.

Donkoh’s hands and anchor give him an answer to a rush through his chest. The concern is the adjustment when an outside threat draws him off his base and turns inside. Follow his feet through the first punch and the defender’s next change of direction. On the holding snap, locate when his hands lose legal position and whether his feet still let him stay in front.
